Usui Reiki

Reiki is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Force Energy. In simple English, it means Cosmic Energy.

Human beings are energy systems. If we accept this premise, then life energy is the essential and most basic element of the human energy system. We suffer when we don't have enough energy to carry out our life functions or when we, as energy systems, are out of balance. The effect of receiving a Reiki treatment is that our supply of life energy is increased and we return to balance.

The Usui System of Reiki Healing is first a healing practice focusing on self-treatment. Daily practice is ideal. The practice balances and strengthens the functions and health of the physical body, enhances relaxation and self-awareness, and quiets and nourishes the spirit. Out of the practice of self-treatment, it becomes natural to others with the same benefits.

A Reiki treatment consists of laying the hands on the body in a prescribed pattern and allowing the energy of life to flow through the hands to the person being treated. A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit, creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.

In the Usui/Tibetan system of Reiki, there are three levels.

Level 1
At this level, you are taught the history of Reiki, the Aura, the Chakra system, the various uses for Reiki treatments, the hand positions for treatment of self and others. You will receive an attunement for this level. Manual will be given at the start of the class.

Level 2
At this level, you will learn 3 Reiki symbols, how they are used and how to do distant or absent healing, space clearing and creating protective shield.

Level 3
This leads to Mastership.

A brief history of Usui Reiki:
Mikao Usui (1865-1926) was the originator of what we today call Reiki. The lineage was then carried on by Dr Chujiro Hayashi (1878-1940) and then passed on to Mrs Hawayo Takata (1900-1980), who brought Reiki to the West.
